How it works
Six work types, one path
The quiz uses psychologist John Holland's RIASEC model, one of the most studied career tools in the world. It's the same idea behind the U.S. Department of Labor's O*NET Interest Profiler. Most people are a mix of six types, and your top three letters (your “Holland Code”) point to work you'll actually enjoy sticking with.
R
Realistic · The Builder
You like real, hands-on work where you can see the result. Tools, machines, the outdoors and practical problems give you energy. Endless meetings drain it.
I
Investigative · The Thinker
You like to understand how things work. Research, data, science and hard questions keep you curious. You want to figure it out yourself before trusting anyone else’s answer.
A
Artistic · The Creator
You like freedom to create. Writing, design, music, photos and new ideas light you up. Strict rules and copy-paste work feel like a cage.
S
Social · The Helper
You like working with people: teaching, caring, coaching and helping. You feel best when your work clearly makes someone’s life better.
E
Enterprising · The Leader
You like to lead, persuade and make things happen. Deals, goals and building something of your own excite you. Waiting for permission does not.
C
Conventional · The Organizer
You like order, clear rules and getting details exactly right. Systems, numbers and well-run processes are your comfort zone. Chaos is not.
The optional snapshot uses the Big Five personality traits, the best-supported personality model in research. It won't pick a job for you, but it shows the work style that keeps you healthy and steady.
